In June 2015 Inkcubeko Nendalo was approached by Mme Isabelle Defert, a science teacher at Lycée Français du Cap French School in Cape Town. Isabelle explained that every year the school Grade 7 class undertakes fund-raising activities for a selected community projects and having read about Inkcubeko Nendalo they asked if we would be willing to be a recipient.
In November Michelle Cocks was fortunate to meet Isabelle and the Grade 7 class in Port Elizabeth. The pupils were visiting the area as part of a school excursion to learn about the region’s biodiversity. Michelle gave a presentation on the work Inkcubeko Nendalo and showed them our forest excursion video.
In January we heard from Isabelle that the Grade 7 class managed to raise over R14 000 for Inkcubeko Nendalo. We are delighted and very grateful to them all for their efforts! The funds will be used to reach additional learners in 2016.
It is our intention to increase the number of outings and activities that the Grade 10 Life Science learners can participate in during 2016.
